Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The Category Manager is responsible for the overall commercial performance of assigned product categories. The role leads category strategy, assortment, pricing, margin, purchasing plans, inventory allocation, and stock productivity to achieve revenue and profitability objectives. The position requires strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, and hands-on experience in retail merchandise and inventory planning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop category strategy, product range, assortment depth, and Good-Better-Best positioning.
- Establish pricing architecture, target margins, and margin floors.
- Develop sales, margin, inventory, and Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans.
Determine purchase quantities within the approved inventory budget.
- Allocate inventory across four retail channels based on demand and commercial priorities.
- Monitor category performance, including sell-through, stock ageing, inventory turn, weeks of cover, and GMROI.
- Lead promotional, markdown, and clearance recommendations to optimize sales and inventory.
- Prepare product briefs covering specifications, quality standards, target cost, and commercial requirements.
- Evaluate product samples and recommend products for NP Group factory production.
- Analyze category performance and present recommendations and action plans to Senior Management.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY
- Category Manager: Range, assortment, OTB, purchase quantities, stock allocation, margin, and category performance.
- Purchasing: Supplier negotiation, sourcing, and contracting.
- Retail: Showroom operations, staffing, layout, and final pricing within agreed margin guidelines.
- Group Finance: Overall inventory ceiling and financial control.

Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Merchandise Planning, Buying, or a similar retail commercial role.
- Hands-on experience with Buy Plans / Open-to-Buy.
- Strong knowledge of inventory turn, weeks of cover, GMROI, ageing, and sell-through.
- Proven track record of improving revenue, margin, or inventory performance.
- Strong Excel and ERP/merchandising-system skills.
- Professional working proficiency in Khmer and English.
- Experience in furniture, home appliances, sanitary ware, building materials, licensed/franchise brands, import sourcing, landed-cost management, or new category development.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
